National Wheelchair Data Collection

Data Provision Notice to require the submission of data from providers of NHS-funded wheelchair services, to help improve the commissioning of wheelchair services and outcomes for wheelchair users.

This Data Provision Notice sets out a requirement for data to be submitted by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to NHS Digital.

In accordance with the Health and Care Act 2022, as of 1 July 2022, CCGs are abolished and their statutory obligations will be managed by Integrated Care Boards. These obligations include the continuing requirement to submit data to NHS Digital as set out in this Data Provision Notice.


Overview

This collection aims to provide a national view of the wheelchair service by collecting information on the number of, cost, access to, and patient experience about wheelchair services to enable transparency and benchmarking.


Scope

This Notice is served on:

  • NHS organisations and Independent sector providers of NHS-funded services
    • this includes Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), NHS Trusts, external wheelchair service providers.

Note that CCGs have the overall responsibility for coordinating submission of data.
