NHS Digital announced as key sponsor of Leeds Digital Festival 2017

6 March 2017: NHS Digital, the national provider of information, data and IT for the health and social care sector, is delighted to be a key sponsor of Leeds Digital Festival 2017.

From our headquarters across four offices in Leeds, and many more sites around England, we strive towards our vision: to harness the power of information and technology to make health and care better.

Proud to be one of the major digital employers in Leeds, we believe the city's growing reputation as a digital hub is something to be celebrated. So, from April 24th to April 28th, we will host a wide range of events across Leeds to interest, inform, and inspire the city.

From our Lightning Talks, where we can show you the latest technological developments making a difference to patients and staff; to showing you how our data can be used and shared safely to improve care; to the way that our cyber security advice is supporting health and care to keep data safe, our events will help you learn more about how our work is using information and technology to improve health and social care.

Rob Shaw, Interim CEO at NHS Digital said: "As one of the city's major technology employers, we are delighted to support Leeds Digital Festival. We look forward to being part of this week of events which will showcase the city's impressive digital credentials.

"The work NHS Digital does here in Leeds affects the lives of everyone in the country. Delivering effective digital technology for the NHS has the potential to free up the time of doctors and nurses and to transform the way that patients experience care.

"Working on such a big mission makes NHS Digital a rewarding and exciting place to be and we look forward to opening our doors to show a little bit more of what we do and why we do it."

Andrew Meyer, Programme Head of the Digital Delivery Centre at NHS Digital said:  "Many Leeds residents may not know the city is home to the Digital Delivery Centre, where a team of digital technologists keeps the nation's health and care IT infrastructure running 24/7.

"We also use an Agile development approach to our deliveries and Open Source technology to innovate and invent digital technology that further improves the lives of patients and healthcare workers.

"We are immensely proud of what we are doing, so we felt Leeds Digital Festival 2017 would be the perfect opportunity to show the city our work and inspire even more talented people to come to join us."

If you feel you have the talent to help us achieve our vision, our week of Leeds Digital Festival events will culminate in a job fair at the city's First Direct Arena, where you can find out about available opportunities, our popular graduate scheme, or identify the right role for you across a range of jobs.

Charlotte Goulding, Strategic Recruitment Manager at NHS Digital, said: "We're always on the lookout for talented individuals to come and join us at NHS Digital in Leeds.

"We have opportunities for those at the start of their careers considering an apprenticeship or a graduate training role, along with experienced professionals keen to use their digital skills to make a real difference to the future of the NHS.

"Our packed schedule of events throughout the Leeds Digital Festival 2017 week will give you an insight into exactly what we do, so you can find a career path that fits you best."

In the spirit of all things digital, we will be sharing video content throughout the week, both pre-recorded and live streaming over the course of the week. So if you can't attend our events, you don't need to miss out on the experience.
